WINTER '03 SERIES: GAME #7 REVIEW

Team Babushka 10 vs. Team Rocks 6
Short manned Rocks Team let a victory slip away...

Friday, February 21, 2003

Amidst the makings of another great tilt... that is until the sub absentee/mixup/tardiness got into the fray, ending up with superstud Jeff "late but ready to bust this game wide open" Ohashi suiting up on Team Babs leaving Team Rocks short one of the bench and having to fend with 3 D-men. Irrespective of the fact that Ohashi was the intended Rocks sub, but we can thank Babs' F Kenny "wanna be a GM in my dreams" Chiu for getting involved in that mixup. As such, it paid dividends as Team Babs notch their second win of the series powered by a stellar Chiu-Oye-Ohashi line feasting on a weary Rocks' D and a newbie goalie in Shelby "so much for a winning debut dammit" Lui making his first MDHL appearance (thanks again to KC ironically).

Otherwise, it was close in the early going all the way up to 6-6, but Team Rocks was unable to counterpunch the opposition in the late stages, making for an anti-climatic finish. Babs F Chris "the intimidator" Archibald worked hard all night long including pouncing on that newbie goalie and looking for mucho garbage around the net. Babs G Samson "ain't losing to no rookie on the other end" Chow turned in a solid performance to get the win.

Team Babs looks to build on their new found momentum, while Rocks Captain Anthony "if I could stack four on a line I would" Chang is just focussing on sealing the series record. 'Til next week...

MDHL 3 Stars:
3. Kenny Chiu... off-ice and on-ice efforts help seal the victory for his team.
2. Jeff Ohashi... too much speed (and talent) for the Rocks' short-manned D to contend with tonight.
1. Samson Chow... cool as a cucumber all night long.
