Team White 11 vs. Team Dark 10 Both GMs absent as Team White wins by a single goal… Friday, January 10, 2003
One of the closest games ever. On their first shift captain Anthony and
his linemates "stop me if you can" Chris and Kevin tallied their first
goal of many for the night, while the checking second line of Mike, Gon, and defenseman turned centre Tom held the fort as they played against the top line of the black team throughout most of the night. Penetration into the offensive zone might have been better had the wingers thought twice about trying to outskate and out deke Sean in the neutral zone - hats off to your attempts. Team white and black traded goals back and
forth for most of the game. Team black had 2 lines to contribute to the
offense, the line of "I'll score when I want to" Sean, "shoot and score
first - talk later" Kenny and newcomer Steve Tremblay (who started the
scoring for team black but was one short of a hat trick on his season
debut) clicked providing the bulk of the offense with tic tac toe
passing on very quick and strong attacks to the net. The hard working
2nd line of "best dressed" Lawrence, Alex, and "tough guy/ grinder"
Jackson also provided offensive pressure and tallied with several goals
of their own.
Defensively, Ron Pong was solid for team black leading the 3 man
defensive core alongside Randy and Albert. This defensive trio stopped
several pucks from crossing the goal line while breaking up many odd man
rushes. Basse and Terry provided the bulk of the defense on the white
team as the combination of "fancy foot work" Tyson and "just go around
me" Richard provided scoring at BOTH ends of the rink. Team black should
thank Tyson as his game plan from the outset was to make it a game and
keep the score close.
Ken Takeda was 2 saves away from being the hero, while Samson Chow was
the winning goalie - 10 saves away from a shutout.
The series stands at 2 games to none in favour of the white team.
