2003 FALL SERIES: GAME #5 REVIEW

Team White 12 vs. Team Dark 9
Friday, November 28, 2003

Finally a win for Team White on the fifth game of the series before pending trade considerations... and it took a gritty effort with no less than four super-subs in action on this night... Team Dark's regular assistant captain Lawrence Lau was absent for an unprecedented fourth occurance, paving the way for another designate call for Jason Lai, who let it get to his head and took the game's only two penalties... kudos to his team for killing them both off, but it didn't help momentum as Team White came from behind to take the lead 8-7 late in the game... a TSN turning point was had when Ernie Ma's apparent breakaway goal for Team Dark was called back... on a two-line pass call (read the rules before you show up Ernie!)... and while it looked like another win in store for Team Dark, especially with the once-like-a-solar-eclipse-rarity of Stan Quan scoring his first of the season, Team White would not give up and persevered with many a garbage goal (hey they all count, right?) and astonishly, with only one goal by Team White sniper/captain Anthony Chang. "It was all my leadership today that sealed this one..." he mused...

The intensity continued right up until the buzzer when Team Dark pulled their goalie while Team White D Jason Chu initiates a WWE-clothesline-like play in his own zone to kill the action in the dying seconds... and so, goalie Ken Takeda and his two best friends (aka his goalie pads) remain unbeaten as the series heads to latter half with Team White looking to start a streak…

MDHL 3 Stars:
3. Stan Quan... he scores, he wins... regardless of the team's outcome!
2. Jason Lai... goal, assist, and a few penalties... involved at the very least
1. Chris Archibald... played big, used his reach and was a threat all night long.
