Likity Split 12 vs. Dirty Dogs 10 Dogs let another close one slip away... Friday, May 2, 2003
Without a win in the first three games of the season, the Dirty Dogs were feeling the pressure. And it didn't look much better with super sub Jeff "$5 sub offer? I'm all over that like white on rice!" Ohashi in the lineup for Likity Split, nor did the 5-0 hole the 'Dogs found themselves in by the first period or so. The hockey gods must've been watching this one and cast a nod for hte 'Dogs as they managed to battle back (like the Dirty Dogs they are) and retain a lead! The 'Dogs D and forwards were firing slapshots like they were goin' out of style, including a blast from Allen "I pity da fool" Leung that hammered D Albert "I'll play on even though my leg is numb just now" Chang leaving a nasty purple herbie on his shin (yes, *through* his unbroken shin pad).
Otherwise, some standout performances were had on both ends including rather stunning playoff-like peformances by Kevin "new skates and I'm unstoppable now baby" Ma and Simon "grit and skill = total package" Wong for their respective sides. Yet, even with a two goal lead in the late stages and Team Likity Split playing short due to a no-show by Travis "does bailing on you guys tarnish my fine rookie campaign to-date?" Wong, the Dogs wore a choke label by letting the game slip away on the game breaking heroics by Ohashi setting up one and scoring on another to seal the deal. Looks like Likity Split is too slippery to handle as they ride into the mid-season with a four game winning streak!
MDHL 3 Stars:
3. Kevin Ma... those skates must give him super powers.
2. Simon Wong... definitely a career game for this part-timer.
1. Jeff Ohashi... the best $5 per game player that ever laced 'em up in the MDHL. |
