2003 SPRING SERIES: GAME #2 REVIEW

Team Dark 10 vs. Team White 9
White let the lead slip away in the late stages…

Friday, April 11, 2003

In the second game on the "big" ice, game two of the series turned out to be another dandy. This time around, Team White were more determined coming out strong to grab the early lead backstopped by the season debut of "Karate" Ken Takeda. The night sported fast and furious action with some sweet goals, including a big league deflection by Dark's rookie Travis "still got more in my bag of tricks" Wong starting up on the forward lines after a great debut at D last game. In other standout efforts, Dark's Kevin "jersey like Modano, moves like Modano" Mah showed a new gear with more than a few superstar rushes to light the lamp.

Meanwhile, Team White held the lead with a lunch bucket effort and riding on the back of LW Allen "3+ goals, back to my game average" Leung and his four goal outing. Dark's first-time captain Kenny "work like the dirty dogs you are" Chiu was pressing for his team's first win but their momentum was running out as Team White caught them at 8-8 in the late stages. With desperate hockey on both ends, none were more desperate than Dark's RW Gon "my first breakaway... doh!" Yip who cried foul as he was foiled before reaching the net on a break from center ice.

Alas, Team Dark continued the momentum and surged to a 10-8 lead and notched the victory in light of giving up a last second goal in a late flurry. Not all was rosey on the winner's side as both G Mike "glad I finished having my kids" Smith and D Albert "my glove provides extra padding down there" Chang suffer the indignity of having stopped a puck with their jocks during the game... courtesy of the same player on Team White (heh).

MDHL 3 Stars:
3. Travis Wong... another solid outing in his rookie campaign and a nice offensive display to boot.
2. Allen Leung... four goals in a losing cause, including a sweet top shelf slapper.
1. Kevin Mah... after a half-season in the league, looks like he's found his stride with new-found super speed.
